A Day of Rest
Beginning with each Friday’s sunset, Shabbat was historically a day of rest, in which Jews refrained from work or chores, and enjoyed restful activities.
More commonly today, Shabbat Services are held in the JCV sanctuary every Friday at 7:30pm and include a Torah service. Following the conclusion of services, all are welcome to join in the oneg, a time to gather and enjoy some light refreshments in celebration of Shabbat. If you are interested in sponsoring an oneg or would like information, please contact the JCV office at jcv2@venice.com.
While the building is closed during the COVID-19 pandemic, there is a Shabbat in the Lot / Drive-in service twice a month, beginning with the first Friday of each month. On the alternating Fridays, there are live Zoom services. All services are recorded and are housed on our website for a period of time.
